Duterte Not to Fire Mocha Uson Despite Not Following Order to Apologize to Kris Aquino

President Rodrigo Duterte will not fire Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson. This is despite the fact that the latter did not follow the president's order to apologize to Kris Aquino, in relation to the sharing of a kissing video of the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino back in 1983.

“Yes, the president he told Mocha to apologize to Ms. Kris Aquino. But because this is not part of her job, the president he is not forcing her to do it. It’s more of a personal thing, and the president understands her. And this is why the president will not fire her.” PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said in an ambush interview, Thursday, June 7.

Last Wednesday, President Duterte has already apologized to Kris through a statement of Special Assistant to President Christopher "Bong" Go. In a press briefing in Malacañang, he said that the president is sorry for the sharing of the Ninoy kissing video. “We conveyed our apologies for the incident concerning her and Mocha,” he said.

“Naintindihan naman po niya ang punto ni Kris. At sabi niya sabihin mo, ‘we are sorry for the incident' (The President understood the point of Kris.. He said to tell her 'We are sorry for the incident.' We understand the emotions of both sides.” Go added.

“Ang sabi ni Mocha sa akin, ang purpose ng pag-upload is pinapakita niya na both leaders are well-loved. She (Mocha) will apologize.” He said further. But shortly before that, Mocha insisted that she will not say sorry to Kris. This is after Kris slammed her, and even challenged her meet her “anytime and anywhere.”



“Ito po ang aking response sa live video ni Miss Kris Aquino. This is not about Kris Aquino. Tungkol ito sa paglagay ng malisya sa isang halik. Itinumbas lang sa gawain ng ibang lider tulad ng tatay niya. Ms Aquino, this is not about you," Uson said on her 20-second video she posted on her official Facebook page on Wednesday, June 6.
