"You know how politicians are. Trillanes is always trying to act tough and threatening and thinks he’s better than he is," President Duterte said and reminded the public that the senator was part of the 2003 Oakwood Mutiny, which transpired during the administration of former president, now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
"He feels confident because he’s from the Armed Forces, the Navy. But who would believe him? He likes to fight a lot. He was part of the Magdalo before and was pardoned by [former President Benigno “Noynoy”] Aquino. Now, look what happened. He’s always calling for a fight," the tough-talking president added.

"He believes that he’s the only tough one around because nobody fought him back. But there will come a day that someone will shoot him because he’s arrogant," Duterte added. On Sunday, Trillanes released a statement saying that he “has been fighting against the corrupt and oppressors, and has never bullied the helpless and innocent.”
"Only Duterte would want me dead because it irks him that somebody dared to stand toe to toe with him. My standing up to him makes him look weak and powerless, which is contrary to his objective of making the whole Filipino society afraid of him. Go ahead, Mr. Duterte, order somebody to shoot me and, I assure you, it would lead to your end," he added.
However, an insider from Trillanes’ office said that the senator is now hiring new security personnel. In fact, the hiring has been going from time to time because a lot of applicants withdraw after they realize that they will be guarding him. The source added that the senator has already increased the salary offer after Duterte made his latest remarks against him.
“Actually, madalas naman pong may hiring na bodyguard para kay sir. Kasi nga, kung hindi nafre-resign agad, marami namang nag-aapply na hindi tumutuloy pag nalaman nilang siya pala ang babantayan. Pero nito lang po, malaki ang itinaas ng salary offer para sa mga applikante.” The insider, who requested anonymity said.
