Pacquiao Questions Bong Go for Meeting Floyd Mayweather in Davao City

American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. made a surprise visit to Davao City and had a meeting with Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go early Friday, May 11. Along with him is former Ilocos Sur governor Luis Chavit Singson, close ally and adviser to Senator Manny Pacquiao. However, the Pinoy boxer questioned the meeting.

“Alam ko naman na nandito sa Pilipinas si Mayweather, pero hindi ko alam na pupunta sya sa Davao para makipag-meeting kay Bong Go. Wala namang problema sa akin yun kasi kaibigan natin lahat, kaso lang sana sinabi sa akin at hindi sa Facebook ko pa nalaman. Kumbaga, sana respeto lang.” Sen. Pacquiao said in an ambush interview.

(I know that Mayweather is here in the Philippines, but I did not know that he is going to Davao and meet with Bong Go. I have no problems with that because they are all my friends. But then, I hope they informed me earlier instead of knowing about it on Facebook. I suppose I deserve some respect.)

The details of the meeting with Go and Mayweather was not disclosed, but in an interview, President Duterte’s right hand said that the American boxer visited the city to relax and tour. In an earlier interview, Paquiao said that he and Mayweather talked on the phone, and that he invited him to play basketball with him in General Santos City.

Last month, Pacquiao, Go and presidential son-in-law Manases Carpio (Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte’s husband) made a special three-point shootout during the kickoff leg of this year’s PBA All-Star Week, and teamed up with some PBA Greats. As we all know, Pacquiao is also the former playing-coach of Columbian Dyip (formerly KIA).

Mayweather, 41, arrived in Manila aboard a personalized private jet last Tuesday, at around 2:45 am. Shortly after, he wasted no time and flew to El Nido in Palawan and enjoyed the sunset. The next day, Money Mayweather went back to Manila and shopped at several stores in SM Mall of Asia, and ate some authentic Filipino food.
