Priest Accused of Sexual Harassment Defends Himself, “Masyadong Sexy Kasi Siya Magdamit!”

A Catholic priest in Obando, Bulacan is now being accused of molesting a young woman who is a member of the church choir. The victim, who was only identified as a certain Susan, claimed that a certain Fr. Prudencio Operiano publicly touched her private parts for several times. However, the accused priest defended his actions.

According to SPO4 Leonarda de Jesus of Obando, Bulacan Police Station, Susan filed a sexual harassment complaint against Fr. Operiano on Tuesday, May 29, and cited some instances when the priest touched her breasts. According to her, the suspect also made of fun of her in front of the choir members because of her huge breasts.

Based on the complaint, the 20-year old victim attends choir practice inside the church every Tuesday and Thursday, along with some friends. She admitted that her breasts are extra big, and men could not help but look at them. But while she wanted to dress properly, she said she could not beat the summer heat so she wears revealing clothes.

“Grabe init po kasi ngayon, kaya mas comfortable ako kung maluwag ang suot ko. Conscious naman po ako sa paligid ko, at tinatakpan ko na naman po ang dibdib ko pag yumuyuko ako, lalo na po pag nandyan si Father. Nahihiya din po ako sa kanya.” Susan wrote, noting that she is doing everything to protect herself from malicious men.

Susan also recalled that she always noticed that Fr. Operiano is staring at her breasts, and the latter remind her to dress appropriately. However, she said she never thought the priest will not be able to control himself. “Dinadaan nya po sa biro nung una, pero dahil nahihiya din akong sabihan siya, inuulit ulit na nya. Di ko na po matiis” She added.

On the other hand, Fr. Prudencio Operiano defended himself and said his actions were not malicious. According to his signed affidavit, the priest admitted he touched Susan’s breasts on some occasions but he said he just did it to emphasize his point. “Ilang beses ko na siya sinabihan na magdamit ng maayos, pero ayaw nya.” The priest wrote.



“Kaya dinaan ko na lang siya sa biro, at napakabilis lang. Kung purpose ko talaga ay gawan siya ng masama, hindi ko gagawin yun sa harap ng mga choir members. Sa katunayan, tumatawa pa ng sila. Ibig sabihin, hindi offensive ang ginawa ko.” He added. On Thursday, police said that Susan withdrew her complaints against Fr. Operiano.
