According to DOLE Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod, a certain Rommel Castillo, was hired as a construction worker in Dubai, while his cousin Florencio was hired as driver also in Dubai. He added both of them were known to be active members of the KMU for four years but left the militant group when President Duterte was elected in 2016.
Meanwhile, a certain Dolores Mangulat, 42, who left KMU shortly before the election was hired as a factory worker in Batangas. Maglunsod said that she has long years of experience in food manufacturing companies but was persuaded to join KMU after her name was included in the retrenchment program of the company she worked for 12 years.

“The recruitment supervisor told me that the two cousins almost cried when they knew they got hired. And based on their job experiences, they really deserve the job. In the case of the single mother, it turned out that the employer prefer workers with long experience so they decided to remove the age limit for applicants.” He said.
Earlier, the DOLE said over 140,000 job vacancies will available in more than 50 job fairs across the country - 58,171 local jobs and 84,914 overseas jobs. Local employment includes call center agents, factory workers, and construction workers. For those who want to work abroad, the vacancies include nurses, engineers, technicians, factory workers, construction workers, cooks, drivers, and housekeepers.
Aside from KMU, labor group Nagkaisa Labor coalition (NAGKAISA), along with Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (Spark) and Workers’ Resistance against Tyranny and for Human Rights and Courage and militant group Bayan were among those who joined the protest rally held in Metro Manila, and some other major cities in the country.
