Bill Pullman Laughs at Robredo for Copying his Speech at Independence Day Movie

Hollywood actor Bill Pullman could not help but laugh when he learned that Vice President Leni Robredo seemed to have copied his speech in the 1996 movie ‘Independence Day'. Netizens noticed the similarities between the lines of Pullman and VP Robredo, and made fun of it. The meme went viral and the actor reacted on it.

“Creative and very well done. Gave me a good laugh this morning.” Bill Pullman tweeted as caption to a meme created by RJ Nieto aka Thinking Pinoy, placing side by side Pullman’s lines in Independence Day movie and a part of VP Robredo’s speech at the “Free the Courts” forum, held at the University of the Philippines-Diliman last Monday.

“As your duly-elected Vice President, I took an oath to defend the Constitution. You can count on me to do everything in my power to right this wrong, should it ever come to pass. Our nation’s path towards democracy has been fraught with dark twists and unexpectedly glorious turns…we will always take democracy’s side.” Robredo said.

"We will not go quiet into the night. We will always fight for what is right. Together, we will prevail," she added, noting that quo warranto case against Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is every Filipino’s fight. CJ Sereno is being accused on not filing her statement of assets, liability and net worth (SALN) for ten years in 2012.

On the other hand, Bill Pullman played the role of as US President Thomas J. Whitmore in the blockbuster science fiction movie ‘Independence Day’. In his very memorable speech that incidentally fall on July 4, Independence Day, Pullman told the American people that US forces will join other countries in the battle against alien invasion.



“And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!" Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!" Pullman said on the last part.
